Taking care of the garden
Apr. 17th, 2013 05:25 pmSo, the weather has gotten suddenly better. In one week time, we went from 5-6°C to about 20°C. We're finally starting getting flowers, and some sunny days.
So today, I started gardening. Which I find incredibly difficult at times. Not because it's tiring, but because I have a severe phobia of bees, wasps and any related bugs. Hearing or seeing one is sufficent to make me scream or freeze and start to shake and/or cry. As much as I like flowers and warm temperatures, I can't say Spring is my favorite season.
(To my defense, I got stung under the toes by a bee when I was a kid, just by walking on the lawn while wearing sandal; to add further trauma, the following week, I suffered through the same incident again - the same sandals, the same foot, but with a wasp instead of a bee this time. Suffice to say, I developped quite the phobia and it took me about 15 years before I started wearing sandals again.)
As one can guess, the fact I'm almost running in the other direction the moment I see anything flying too close is rather handicaping, so there some parts of the garden I don't go to if I can avoid it, at least while some plants are blooming (don't ask me go and pick up thyme for cooking. Just don't.).
As it is, despite a few tense moments, I spend two hours outside pulling weeds out from a relatively safe zone, before I started what I consider an holy war against the dandelions that keep growing in the lawn. Damned things are everywhere! Each year, I spend hours uprooting as many as possible before they blossom and send their seeds flying, causing even more to grow. Had to stop for today because my hands were starting to hurt, and I'd like to avoid blisters. If the weather stays clear, I'll continue tomorrow though.
In other news, still don't have any news from that job interview I had. I suppose it's mean I can forget about it. Blah. Can't say I'm too sad; at least, I managed to get that interview in the first place, which is more than I did in six months.
Also, currently under siege by TFA Sentinel Prime's related (smutty) plot bunnies. I've posted several over the years on the kinkmeme, but they were rarely taken. And now, I've some scenes struck in my head that don't want to let go! Guess I'll write about my own bunnies then XD

Date: 2013-04-17 04:08 pm (UTC)Hornet... *shudders* I hate those things. Thankfully, we don't see much around here. We do see horse-flies more often, but I don't consider it better...
I never got stung anymore after that, partly because I don't go out much (I've a lot of nevus/moles on my limbs, especially the arms, so massive sunlight exposition isn't exactly the brightest idea), but still, it really shook me at the time.
My brother V. played Big Damn Hero that day. he was nearby, and the moment he heard me screaming in pain, he rushed to me, carried me off running to the house, tookthe stinger out and gave me treatment until my Mom was back. Honestly, it left traces X_X
And I loved those sandals; it was my first pair, and I had wanted them so much... >_<
Even today, I only wear them in the house.
=3
Wrote a bit more to 'Reproduction Woes'. I will probably add any other fic ideas/further plot bunnies on it =3
